CO2 emissions are high and something needs to be done! It can feel hard at the start of your school’s campaign to lower emissions, keep your head up. Try and get people on board, contact other schools, get pupils involved. By combining forces with other schools and environmental organisations the possibilities are endless. They all have social media so can help you in your fight against those high emissions. By increasing your power you will then increase the influence on the local authorities.

Climate change has never been spoken about as much as it has until this year. Something must be done as it is fast becoming a concern for our children’s future. The climate is changing, so now, so should we.

Using Your Budget Wisely

Now I don’t have to tell you about your budgets and I have been told thousands of times by schools that budgets are being cut and money needs to be saved! I’m not going to tell you what to do or what to buy because that’s not my job. My job is to sell as many photocopiers and printers as I can! But where budgets are cut and funding is in short supply this has made my job a bit harder until now!

Epson inkjet printers are taking over the world when it comes to lowering C02 emissions! There are currently 32,113 schools in the UK. Of these, 20,925 are primary schools and 4,168 are secondary schools. There are 2,381 independent schools, 1,256 special schools and 351 pupil referral units.

If all these schools in the UK made the switch to Epson’s inkjet printers it would have a huge impact on the world we live in today.  Switching from laser to inkjet is going to be the future of printing, the only thing standing in the way is you.  Your thoughts towards laser photocopiers and how they may be faster, better quality, more energy efficient, low costing. I don’t want to be the one to tell you, you are wrong because I’m not that kind of person, but you are.

Epson’s inkjet have a lower energy usage, a lower carbon footprint and creates minimal waste. I have written another blog article on the wastage created by laser copiers, eco-responsible printing for less.

Get Pupils Involved

Children have become more aware of health issues and the planet struggling to cope, more so than my generation anyway! Children are very enthusiastic and passionate when it comes to tasks and I have learnt they respond well to responsibility.  Sustainability is on the curriculum, so use this to involve pupils in practical projects around the school. Some schools have enlisted pupils to read energy meters, monitor and report energy consumption and set targets for reducing this consumption – to great effect.

Use Your Carbon Reduction Efforts To Save Money

Reducing carbon emissions makes good economic sense. Insulation, efficient lighting and heating controls can bring down energy bills dramatically. Epson inkjet printers have up to 96% lower energy consumption and up to 94% less waste. Inkjet printers use no heat in the printing process, so they consume far less power than laser printers – reducing the running cost’s, therefor putting more money in the schools budget.
